Why Lockdown Inspirations?

April 2021

In early 2020, the shipping company I worked with had declared bankruptcy. When I had my last office day 12 months ago, I knew this change would be a chance to reshuffle my professional life. I had already been through a longer period of uncertainty, and the impulse was to refrain from anything that would support the old paths for a while. A challenging time had started that I consider a kind of personal lockdown – a dive into the unknown. Indeed I had no idea how it should work out exactly at that time. It was quite strange and unexpected, but to be honest, also kind of solacing to see I was united with many people in the world that were suddenly stuck in a situation of personal challenges, limited financial resources and restricted activities, while staying home, in the midst of the pandemic.

I spent my time with numerous trainings and seminars, live and online. First, it was my intention to shape my licensed activities as non-medical practitioner focused on psychology – an education that I had started already in May 2018. I wanted to prepare for the establishment of my own practice. In November 2020, I started my freelance business on parttime basis.

On November 18th, 2020 – it was the time when the second pandemic lockdown had been pushed forward in Germany – I took the first video in what would be the start of realizing an idea I had in my mind. I had the wish to express my knowledge, not only deriving from my educational seminars and guided lessons in psychotherapies and personal trainings, but above all inspired from my most private experiences in life and the kind of inner research that I had started to practice about 10 years ago. Between November 2020 and early March 2021, I continued to take simple videos with my i-Phone about topics that got into my mind spontaneously: Inspirations for a meaningful life from my individual point of view. Although the videos were not perfectly made up, as I never did this kind of exercise before, they formed the foundation of my programme for personal growth.

Meanwhile, I have translated the video messages into an agenda with aspects that I deem important to consider for a life of awareness and meaningfulness in 14 steps, plus one optional extra step. They build the ‘Circle of Personal Growth’, a self-study programme that was gradually sharpened in a 12 months’ period of personal retreat, that might also be called my Lockdown Inspirations for you.

I hope you will be inspired and find much value in it.

Yours, Sabine

My name is Sabine Kilper, born 1967 in Hamburg, so it is no big surprise ...

that I have been working in shipping for more than 30 years, including almost 10 years as shipbroker and 13 years as market analyst. Since my youth, I have also been very much interested in psychology and I am still excited about the reasons behind our actions, life stories, personal development and finding truth behind all kinds of malfunctions and fortunes. I was not saved from ups and downs in my private life that shaped me and let me grow either. And being a mother of two wonderful children, over time it happened that I even more tend to appreciate being faced with surprises, new directions and a simple, honest way of living.

In my opinion, the best teacher of all remains life itself with all kinds of lessons to learn, blind alleys, turnarounds, joys and unexpected surprises, unfolding this great miracle of being alive. I love to embark on smaller pilgrim trips, a very helpful and joyful practise to literally keep focus on where you are and want to go. I would like to do my share to encourage faith and create true connection within ourselves and with other people to pave the way for inner and outer peace beyond fear and conflict.

Maybe you would like to take the next step from where you are now, too?
